How do long tones help us to become better players on a musical level?

By building control on every octave, on every problematic note, on learning better finger positions and movement, breathing skills, listening skills, and most important discipline, we become more flexible in the building of our phrases and dynamics and IMAGINATION. Why imagination? The more we have the ability to control what we produce on the instrument, the more of the ability we have to dream of creating even more of what we have in our inner being.
